History in original design

More than 20 years ago, the souvenir specialists at Bavaroi began reinventing a somewhat dusty market. Today they are the most important producer and supplier of the biggest event in the world, the Oktoberfest in Munich. They are also at the forefront in Berlin, with two stores in the Mauermuseum at Checkpoint Charlie and 5,000 products. Now the third store has opened in the DomAquarée in the capital: the Checkpoint Charlie Museum Shop.

Souvenir comes from French and means memory or souvenir, and in fact, the little souvenir should remind us of a good time. These souvenirs can be all sorts of things. Who does not know them - the coffee mugs with pictures and other motifs. Or colorful T-shirts, key rings and beer mugs. Even Bavaroi Berlin is not immune to the classic kitsch. A very young audience in particular is asking for it. In Bavaroi's theme worlds, however, the focus is on sophisticated design, aesthetics and authenticity. The idea is to make the traditional souvenir trade more casual, modern and sustainable in the future.

A good example of this is the masonry bricks processed in the company's own manufactory in Berlin-Pankow. Each piece is 100 percent authentic and original. All wall pieces are unique, worked by hand and individually painted by contemporary artists. The manufacturing process ends with finishing in a glass workshop in the Wall Museum. The Wall objects present - each piece on its own - an important part of German-German history. They are a strong symbol that a peaceful world does not need walls. A significant message, especially for the younger generation, which is also conveyed in person and on the video screen in the new museum store in the DomAquarée.
